Campfire 2009 - by Cara
If anyone asked me where I had experienced my best ever campfire, I would have to truly say that it was at my school, SCGS!
The night of the campfire was particularly alive with singing, dancing and of course, the cheery light of the bonfire itself, despite the early release of the fireball (it still looked pretty). Scouts and Guides from different schools were invited to have a galloping good time with us, garbed in our very own “uniform” (not the SCGS one, you! You can’t expect a boy to fit inside one! =D) although the heat was really getting to us…
Hmmm, let’s see, my most memorable time was when I played the game, “Hide from Bandits!” , when I chased a Scout all over the courtyard to burst his balloon, because that was what you were supposed to do… make older people afraid of you. Ha-ha. =D Following that, we had another glorious time singing our heads off to many other wonderful traditional campfire songs (to none which I could hold a tune to) such as “Edelweiss”, “I’ve Got Peace Like a River”, ”Gako the Frog”, “There Was a Stream”, “Cannibal King” and of course, “The Campfire Song”!
Let’s gather around the campfire
And sing our campfire song
Our C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G song
And if you don’t think that we can sing it faster
Then you’re wrong
But it’ll help if you just sing along…
